Would You Pay to See Me RUN?
Better yet, would you pay so that others might retain the ability to run?
I am currently training for the Dublin Marathon... scheduled for October 28, 2002. (Hence the lovely picture above.) I am training with the Arthritis Foundation & have promised to raise $5000 towards their cause. I have also volunteered to be an Arthritis Advocate. As an advocate, I speak for all who have arthritis, but am especially concerned with those who are poor and vulnerable in our society. Because of the current Medicare situation, many senior Americans lack prescription drug coverage, particularly for the new biological treatments and COX-2 inhibitor drugs. As research advances and new treatments become available, access to these medical advances is limited. The perceptions about arthritis vary, but the numbers don't lie: *** There are more than 100 forms of arthritis. *** Nearly 43 million Americans have arthritis. *** 300,000 people with arthritis are children. *** Arthritis is the nation's number one cause of disability. *** Arthritis costs the US economy nearly $65 billion annually in lost wages. *** Arthritis affects one in six Americans. |
